Choose an output format
MP3 is convenient for broad sharing. M4A with AAC is efficient and common on phones and Apple devices. WAV is much larger but useful when the extracted track will be edited further.
Extraction versus re-encoding
Some workflows can copy an audio stream directly when the destination supports its codec. SoundToStory currently creates the selected output format, so quality and bitrate choices still matter.
Check the audio track
A video can contain several audio tracks. SoundToStory extracts the first supported track, so preview the output when the source has alternate languages, commentary or multiple recordings.
Protect the source
Local processing avoids a remote upload and retention window. You should still use a trusted device, keep the original file and check the downloaded result before deleting anything.
